We’re going to Germany!

Yes, we’re really going.  We both got our passports and international driver’s licenses, and all the plans are moving forward nicely.  I had my first rehearsal for “Music for Desperate Times,” the program that is taking me to Germany.  It made it all seem more real.  It’s still a little unbelievable that, after all my hard work in trying to be a real musician, I am actually seeing some results.  We leave for Berlin on April 15th.  Dick’s coming along, and we are extending our trip by 7 more days.  Including all our travel to and from the airports, etc., we will be gone about two weeks.  I’m trying to get a space in Albany for a dress rehearsal that some select folks, such as press people, can attend.  I may have found one.  Before Germany, we are performing at St. John the Divine in NYC.  I also want to get a feature story done in the local papers.  I’m not sure how to go about that.  I’m going to just ask some writers that I already know if they’re interested.  If they are not, I’ll ask some others that I don’t really know.  I think it’s a big story.  The orchestra consists of twelve musicians.  Half of them are from this area.  I just have to make the time to do all this work and still have time to practice.  I want to continue booking gigs for Cav and Kav, too.  When will I do it all?  I went to a CRUMBS Night Out last night and listened to a panel about selling and promoting your music online.  They suggested that keeping up with a blog was a great promotional tool.  So this is one more thing I need to get back to doing regularly.  I can do it all.  I just have to organize my time well.  And after all, that was one of my goals for this year.  I think a street team is a good idea, too.  We’re in Brooklyn next week at Vox Pop.  If we had a street team, we could have gotten them to do some promotion down there.  I should be making a list of tasks and start delegating.  Utilizing my organizational tools would be helpful, too.  I have done pretty well, but I’d like to do better.
