| You will have to make allowances for the looks of this newsletter. I am writing this in an internet cafe inFüssen. The keyboard letters are set up very differently and the keyboard is funky with no backspace, for instance. |
Ravensbrück & Unkermärk
It is incomprehensible to me how humans can be so cruel to other humans. It was very difficult to be at
the camps. We stayed in the old SS barracks. I would not like to go to another of these places.
The concert went well, though was almost too moving. One of the survivors sat in the very front row,
directly in front of me and sobbed at the end. It was all I could do to get through the rest of the etude.
The following day, we went to Unkermärk, the camp for girls and young women ages 16 - 21. Apparently, they also had much younger girls there. That camp was for the ”asocial”,
the ones who did not follow the rules, the radicals, and basically anyone who was different or
questioned the way things were supposed to be. |
Bavaria
Today, we visited Schloss Neuschwanstein, Schloss Höhenschwangau und Schwansee (Swan Lake).
Schloss means castle. We learned about König Ludwig and also about Empress Elisabeth of Austria.
I am very thankful I was not born a princess and never had to live under those conditions.
Tomorrow we leave for Switzerland with our concert on Friday. |
