“Surfing” Worldwide

Posted in Uncategorized, babble at 8:22 am by Deb

I have really been enjoying randomly surfing the web for blogs. I have come across some fascinating sites. Some are very cool to look at, others are very cool to read, and there are plenty that don’t interest me, but I’m glad people are out there writing and being creative in whatever way suits them. I appreciate all the effort regardless of whether I like the content. I originally started doing this because of our music, hoping to keep people informed about gigs and other music related things. It’s turned into so much more. The really funny thing is that most of the people reading this have never heard us play and probably couldn’t care less about that part of it, though I promise music links soon. I keep a journal almost every day and thought this might take away from that or the other way around. Not so. When I’m writing here, I have the knowledge that it’s very public, and that shifts my writing. It’s been a very interesting process. So…why do you write and what got you started? Has your blog changed over time?

I first began writing in school to rid my mind of painful thoughts and to write down the stories I would tell to my brothers. Writing and blogging has since become a way for my mind to stay alive and healthy as I try to deal with physical and emotional problems.

Well I started it just for fun really.. but was surprised at how many good friends you meet along the way’s. That’s why I keep my blogs going. I don’t think you will find them very interesting though… lol

I tried for years to keep a journal and was ever able to keep it up. When I started my blog, it was because I needed a place to put a lot of the random ramblings that shift through my head in the course of the day.

There came a point where I started finding some of my RL friends were also blogging and it turned into an interesting circular thing, where we would comment to each other and sometimes cross-post responses to each other.

Now it seems like it’s becoming more of an obligation. It’s still a narcissistic hobby for me, but I have enough regular readers that they start to complain… then worry… when I go for too long between posts ;)

But I’m still blogging. It’s the absolute longest I’ve ever been able to keep a journal.

I just wanted to get into building a fun webstuff wwithout any real agenda. The blog kind of took over. I’m an expat British-Canadian living and working in Sweden, and I find it fun to point out & make fun of Swedish customs & quirks. Most Swedes can see the humour in it, so no actual death threats yet.

I should update it more than I do, but there you go. Work sucks, doesn’t it?
I breeze through here fairly ofetn, and I like your blog. Just a good, down-to-earth, no BS thing.

    Keep up the good work

Thanks for your comments on my blog a few days back about the gas gouging, I started writing about 10 years ago in the form of screenplays. It was a great way to escape my depression. A few months back, at the suggestion of a friend, I started blogging. I’m glad I took the advice and it has introduced me to some great people. Love your site and keep up the great work.
