R.I.P. Paul Strausman 1954 - 2008

Our friend and fellow musician, Paul Strausman died on Dec. 21st.  We were just beginning to get closer to him and his wife Carol.  Carol did the graphic arts on our CD cover, and they have been in our neighborhood for years.  We recently started spending more time together and were looking forward to doing even more of that.  We are very sad to have lost that opportunity and very sad for his family and long time friends.  Paul was one of the gentlest and kindest men I ever met.  Children loved him and felt safe with him.  He was a renowned children’s musician and all round muscian and songwriter, a member of CMN (Children’s Music Network) for many years, a recording artist with Gentle Wind, newly elected president of PSG (Pickin’ Singin’ Gathering), husband and father of three, a good friend to many, and much, much more.  We will be going to his memorial service today with, I’m sure, many more who loved him.  He will be sorely missed.

We have one show left this month and only a few in January.  My rehearsals for the shows in NYC and Germany start January 18th, so I will be spending a lot of time practicing on my own and going to Kingston and Woodstock for rehearsals between now and the end of March.  Dick and I both got our passports, thankfully, after a struggle to get through all the bureaucracy.Don’t forget about our children’s show at The Perfect Blend in Delmar this Sunday December 28th from 11am - 1 pm.  Our last show was packed with 100 adults and children.  Be sure to arrive early.

We will be playing at the Green Market in Schenectady on Sunday January 11th from 10:30 am - 12: 30 pm and hosting the Open Stage at the Eighth Step on Wednesday January 14th with sign-up starting at 6:45 pm.  Both of these Schenectady shows will be on the stage across from The Muddy Cup in the Proctor’s arcade.  I will send out an update as more dates are confirmed.
