Anybody out there?

Posted in Uncategorized, babble at 7:12 am by Deb

A very interesting thing has happened.  Once I started writing my stories, everyone stopped commenting.  At first, I thought maybe I should stop and write something else.  The thought of doing that made me realize how much I’m enjoying finally writing them down.  After all, I’m really writing this for me, though I’m glad you enjoy it, too.  The process has taken me to a place of not caring whether you’re still reading them or not because it doesn’t really matter.  Our stories are just stories and need to be told.  I know Fyre is reading them because she e-mailed me.  Silly girl, you would not be belittling my stories by commenting.  Writers like to know what you think.  Or at least, this writer does.  Anyway, I hope you’re enjoying reading about my adventures, and if you’re not…  Oh well.

It can be difficult to draw a line and decide what blogging is about to you. It’s so many different things to so many different people and that’s what makes it personal. Different readers comment of different types of blogs. I have more than one blog and have found that some readers comment on all, some on just one. Different strokes.

“Anyway, I hope you’re enjoying reading about my adventures, and if you’re not… Oh well.”

Be true to yourself and rock on!

    Peace………..

I don’t know about belittling, but I just feel like anything that I might say in response to your stories might take away from the powerful storytelling.

    But the stories are kickass!

This is something I’ve seen in several writing communities I belonged to, and what I’ve seen on my own blog. For some reason, folks get shy about commenting; even if they want to say something nice. My stats show that there are two stories I have that are my most popular pages, yet not one single comment.

This is the reason I’d really like to start a kind of writer’s club in which the group shares a story and either praises or critiques it. Just like the writing clubs I had in school.

I just found your blog via a comment you left over at mine. So, as of right now, I don’t know if your stories are good or not.

However, I do kind of know how you feel. I have a lot of posts that don’t get any comments and then a few that get quite a bit. I don’t know what exactly the logic is concerning this. Maybe some people are shy or they just don’t know what to say.

As a writer, I understand the need for feedback, but maybe your readers don’t know that’s what you are looking for. Don’t let the lack of comments stop ya from posting. :)

jayne - I’ve been part of a songwriter’s group that does the same thing. It is very valuable. I’m not sure how important it is here, but the lack was a little baffling. I guess it’s just part of the whole process and just fine.

Thanks to everyone for your support.
