May/June news
More on our trip and fun showsWe have been having a lot of fun with our latest shows. We decided to bring
photos and tell stories at our shows, and are loving it! Our audiences seem to
be enjoying it, too. We have our current photos as well as Dick’s Berlin photos
from the late 60s. Our newest songs and tunes are also being very well-received.
Our trip to Europe seems to have been a turning point for us in many ways. We
worry less, have more confidence and are having much more fun. Being faced
with such horrors from the past really makes you look at life differently. It’s good
to get a fresh perspective once in a while. I am still working on our photos. Here
are a couple more. Here I am straddling the French/Swiss border. There were
no border guards on duty there anymore.
Dick was in Berlin in the late 60s with the US Army. He often went through Checkpoint Charlie. Things have sure changed!
The last 2 photos to share here are of the jail within the concentration
camp and the view of the town from the camp. It was hard to believe
the horrors that went on inside that jail. I took very few pictures at the
camp as compared to the rest of the trip. It was too emotionally
overwhelming being part of the orchestra and feeling surrounded by
ghosts.
Here is the view of the town looking across the beautiful lake. What a bizarre thing to have such a terrible place in such a beautiful setting. Talk about perspective. Wow!
We are very thankful for the lives we have and also very watchful to be sure we keep the freedoms we enjoy here at home. |
News and scheduleWe have some great gigs coming up. First up is CRUMBS Cafe this Friday night, May 29th at 9 pm on WEXT 97.7 FM. We recorded it on Memorial Day after a wonderful and sleepless GottaGetGon festival. If you haven’t yet been to this festival, it’s a great start to the season and a great family fest. Next we go to Slow Jed’s Mud House in Averill Park. Slow Jed’s was closed for a while. We are very happy it’s opened up again. In June, we have some wonderful opportunities. There is a brand new music festival starting up this year. It will hopefully continue every year. Come see us and many others at the Maple Ski Ridge in Mariaville on Saturday June 13th.
