Mandolin Workshop

Dick and I went to John Rossbach’s mandolin workshop, then concert, at The Sand Lake Center for the Arts in Averill Park, NY today.  Then we came home, all high from the music and new-found knowledge, and jammed until just a few minutes ago.  I feel like we’re both at the edge of a major breakthrough in our playing.  Things seem to be really fitting into place lately.  Tomorrow we are in Kingston for the annual Hootenanny.  It’s a fundraiser for the Heritage Folk Music Foundation.  I’m looking forward to it and am also a little apprehensive because of our lack of simple singalongs in our repetoire.  I’m sure we can figure it out, though.  And… we’ll get to jam with some new people.  I keep telling my students that one of the best ways to get better is to play with a variety of musicians.  So I’m trying to get more of that into my life as well.  It’s just a matter of reaching out for it.
